Inspiration
Since the inception of Social media and, recently generative AI, concerns have been raised that people have less time together. This inspired me to create a project that seeks to increase valuable socialization between friends and family. That is exactly what Trivia Night with AI does.
What it does
The project is a simple casual game that takes the players' names, the difficulty with which the questions should be, and their preferred topic. Using these initial inputs, A chatbot asks a question with the given difficulty and from the preferred topic. Each player is required to answer the question. Then will the Chatbot provide the correct answer.
For each answer given, the AI stores the results for each player on a leaderboard. At the end of each game, the player with the most points wins.
How we built it
The app is built with PartyRock AI. It is divided into three parts: The player names, The Chatbot and the leaderboard. The user input takes three parameters: The Player names, Difficulty and Topic. The Chatbot runs Claude LLM. It takes the User inputs and generates questions from Topic with a difficulty level of Difficulty. Each player must provide an answer. Only then will the Chatbot provide the solution. The leaderboard runs Claude instant LLM. It keeps track of the points of each player by adding a point for a player who answers a question correctly.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the prominent challenges faced were realizing consistency with the prompts and providing a default value for the leaderboard prompt that reflected what it does. For example, the AI would consistently add another player that wasn't given or straight up change the already given name. This was especially a challenge when trying to create a single-player game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The knowledge gained from the hours of research into what makes a good trivia game and prompt engineering, as well as completing the project.
What we learned
AI has made a lot of progress in recent years and despite imperfections and negative feedback, it is always awe-inspiring to see the scientists, artists and companies working to make it a useful part of daily life.
What's next for Trivia Night with AI
There are several ways Trivia Night with AI could be better for example adding an input that allows users to create unique games and rules and marketing it to more people who would enjoy the exciting thrill that comes with a good trivia game
