Inspiration
We were inspired to create this project after we saw the starter kit presentation for the MemeGenerator.
What it does
The TritonMemes app allows users to obtain random memes from the internet, create their own memes, and save both the random memes that they get and the memes that they create locally to their devices.
How we built it
We built this project using Java in Android Studio.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into were: LEARNING JAVA, learning the Android Studio interface, and coordinating our Github commits and pushes
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have finished our first app, and solving the various problems that we ran into while coding.
What we learned
In addition to improving our Java skills, we also learned: learned how to navigate Android Studio(never used before), how to integrate git into Android Studio, the basics of editing XML files, how to change app icon, what JSON files are, how to use APIs that return JSON files, how to display a still image in an imageview, and how to save an image in imageview to the gallery.
What's next for Triton Memes
We plan to learn more about app development, possible updates to Triton Memes (access more subreddits to get more memes, improve UI, increase the selection of meme templates), and broaden our knowledge of Computer Science.
