Inspiration
Many travelers know where they want to go but struggle to decide when to go. Prices, crowds, weather, and personal travel style make timing complex. TripPlanner.AI was inspired by this gap and the need for data-backed travel decisions.
What it does
TripPlanner.AI uses AI to recommend the best time to visit a destination based on historical trends, crowd levels, pricing behavior, and traveler preferences, delivering personalized and practical travel insights.
How we built it
We built a web-based platform using a modern frontend and a backend powered by the Gemini API. The AI analyzes structured prompts combining destination, dates, and traveler type to generate intelligent timing recommendations.
Challenges we ran into
Understanding and correctly integrating AI APIs, prompt design for consistent results, handling vague user inputs, and balancing accuracy with limited real-world datasets were key challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built a working AI-powered prototype, integrated Gemini effectively, and delivered meaningful, personalized travel insights within a short development timeline.
What we learned
We learned how to design AI-first systems, craft effective prompts, integrate generative APIs, and translate real-world problems into practical AI solutions.
What's next for TripPlanner.AI
We plan to integrate real-time pricing data, crowd analytics, and booking platforms, add multi-city planning, and enhance personalization to make TripPlanner.AI a complete travel intelligence platform.
