Inspiration

We created TripGenie to make travel planning easier, smarter, and more convenient. Planning a trip often involves searching for destinations, organizing activities, and managing expenses across different platforms. We wanted to explore how conversational AI could bring these tasks together in one simple travel assistant.

What it does

TripGenie is an AI-powered travel companion designed to help users discover destinations, create personalized travel itineraries, and plan trips according to their budgets and preferences. Our goal is to make travel planning feel as simple as having a conversation with an intelligent assistant.

How we built it

We designed TripGenie for the Alexa+ hackathon track, focusing on a conversational travel-planning experience. Our approach is to combine an intuitive user interface with AI-assisted recommendations and itinerary planning. We divided responsibilities among our six team members to work on the prototype, presentation, testing, and demo video.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenges were working within a limited hackathon timeframe, coordinating tasks among six team members, and turning our idea into a practical prototype. We also needed to balance feature development with preparing a clear presentation and demonstration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have transformed a travel-planning idea into a project concept with a clear purpose and potential real-world value. Working as a team helped us organize our responsibilities, explore AI-powered experiences, and work toward a solution that could simplify travel planning.

What we learned

We learned about conversational AI, designing user-focused applications, rapid prototyping, teamwork, and presenting technical ideas clearly. We also gained a better understanding of the Alexa+ track and the importance of aligning an application's design with its intended user experience.

What's next for TripGenie

Our future plans include improving personalized destination recommendations, adding more detailed itinerary generation, incorporating real-time travel information, and supporting smarter budget planning. We also aim to explore deeper Alexa+ integration to make travel assistance more natural, interactive, and convenient.
