Inspiration

I was inspired by apps such as Swagbucks, which motivate users to utilize the advertised services in order to earn cool rewards. I personally believe that it ends up being very beneficial for both parties involved.

What it does

Shows sustainable public transportation services in your area and rewards users with a currency called "Clams". These items can be exchanged for real life products.

How we built it

The app was built through the use of Xcode, Swift, SwiftUI and an implementation of online payment services such as Apple Pay and Circle.

Challenges we ran into

I had personally never coded in Swift before. The closest I had ever gotten to trying out mobile development was MIT App Inventor. Because of this, I spent a large amount of the hackathon's duration looking up online tutorials in order to implement what I wanted to do.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am glad that I was able to step out of my comfort zone, acquire new skills and develop something new. I also think that the idea could be legitimately feasible if more time and resources were put into it.

What we learned

I was able to discover a hidden passion for mobile app development and I learned how to deal with unknown problems while on a timer.

What's next for TripClams

I would like to flesh out the UI. There were a lot of menus I wasn't able to properly design because of the time constraints. I'd also like to launch a working demo.
