Inspiration

We were inspired by the vision of a world where language barriers no longer limit human connection. Witnessing how communication challenges impact travel, business, and personal relationships, we set out to create an app that would empower people to speak freely, regardless of the language they use.

What it does

Comet is a real-time voice translation app that transforms spoken words into instant, natural-sounding translations. By integrating state-of-the-art speech recognition, machine translation, and text-to-speech synthesis, it enables seamless, two-way conversations across over 50 languages. Whether you’re traveling, negotiating international business deals, or simply connecting with friends across cultures, Comet ensures that your voice is universally understood.

How we built it

We developed Comet by leveraging advanced machine learning and natural language processing technologies. Our team integrated robust APIs for:

Speech-to-Text: Converting voice input into text in real time. Translation: Using neural machine translation to accurately render the text into the desired language. Text-to-Speech: Generating natural, human-like speech from the translated text. Throughout the process, we adopted agile methodologies, incorporating continuous user feedback and iterative testing to optimize performance and ensure a fluid, intuitive user experience.

Challenges we ran into

Building a real-time translation platform presented several challenges:

Latency Reduction: Ensuring translations occur almost instantaneously to maintain the natural flow of conversation. API Integration: Seamlessly combining different technologies and managing potential connectivity issues was complex. Scalability: Balancing high translation accuracy with the need to support multiple languages simultaneously demanded robust backend infrastructure and continual optimization.
