Inspiration

I am preparing for my trip at the end of the year. I have decided where to go, but I don't know what to do there, what interesting places there are, how much I need to budget, and how we will get around. This project was created to serve those purposes.

What it does

The TripAdvisor Assistant helps users plan their trips by providing suggestions for activities, places to stay, and how to get around. It also helps users budget for their trips and keep track of their itinerary.

How we built it

I listed the things I would be interested in if I went to a certain place. I set up important parameters that affect the trip, such as starting location, travel time, number of people, and the amount of money we want to spend on the trip. Then I linked these factors together to create a reasonable schedule for the trip.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was determining which factors are necessary and will affect the trip (because as a user, having to specify too many things will surely make users impatient and leave our website before they get any suggestions).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I think this will be a good assistant that can help us make a reasonable timeline for our trips.

What we learned

Besides using Gen AI to solve life problems, we also learned how to identify problems, analyze problems, and find the best solution.

What's next for TripAdvisor Assistant

I think TripAdvisor should not stop at just providing trip suggestions. It should be integrated with flight and train ticket search, booking, and itinerary updates to workspace like calendar. All of these will require a lot of effort to implement, as we all know that real-time data processing is a challenge for Gen AI. Here are some additional features that could be added to the TripAdvisor Assistant:

• The ability to book flights, trains, and hotels
• The ability to create a budget for the trip
• The ability to share the itinerary with others
• The ability to get real-time updates on the trip, such as flight delays or cancellations
• The ability to provide recommendations for activities and restaurants based on the user's interests
