My teammate and I are here in the United States for a year long internship. Since our stint is only going to last a year, we have been avid travellers for the past 6 months. However, being lazy software engineers we both face this problem of planning an itinerary for our trips. Therefore, we wanted to solve this problem. Our main was not to create another itinerary planning software, because there are too many and they are too clunky. We wanted to limit the new steps we might add to an user in order to user our product but rather try to make sense of the user's web activity and personality and then curate an itinerary for them.

We built a Chrome Extension and Mobile App. The user inputs destination and dates in the chrome extension and from that time till the date he is supposed to travel. We track which pages the user visits and if we detect that the user is browsing a place related to his travel destination. We add it to his potential itinerary. Before the day the user travels he uses our mobile app to answer 6 very simple questions. Based on the information from his browsing history and the questions he answered we profile the user and generate an itinerary and display it in the app. While travelling the user can order call a lyft to his next destination from the itinerary. We also show eateries in the itinerary. The user can redeem coupons by checking in at certain locations.

In the future we plan to include paid merchants in the generated itinerary and also gamify the itinerary so that our users have an incentive to use the itinerary during the trip itself. We also plan to make the reading the browser smarter by being able to differentiate places from events and other such nuances. If we get into the LAUNCH accelerator, we plan to release this product to the consumers by the end of this summer.
