Inspiration

Trio was born from personal experience. After Engin's previous startup, Recast, failed earlier this year, he faced severe burnout. This struggle highlighted a critical need: a task manager that combats both procrastination and burnout. We set out to create the tool we wished we had during tough times. How we built it

Over the course of 30 days, from August 12th to our App Store submission today (September 11th), we brought Trio to life. This intense month-long sprint was a testament to our dedication and efficient collaboration. Technical Stack: Frontend: SwiftUI for a modern, responsive UI Data Synchronization: iCloud for seamless cross-device experiences Monetization: RevenueCat for robust in-app purchase management Development Approach: We embraced an agile, iterative process: Used Linear for lightweight project management Small and frequent commits, pushing directly to main. Leveraged remote collaboration tools to work asynchronously Biweekly morning sync sessions to exchange updates and discuss key milestones. Despite both being based in Berlin, we worked 100% remotely to accommodate our existing work and family commitments. Our only in-person meeting was an initial coffee session to kick off the project and align our vision.

Challenges we ran into

  • Sync over iCloud is not as easy as it could be
  • SwiftUI is not as flexible as UIKit but when it works, oh boy, it's magic. Super fast iterations!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Shipping Trio in a short period of time, while achieving a high standard of polish. Effective collaboration, albeit fully remote and haven’t worked with each other before. Fully committing to SwiftUI Delivering on our goal while committing to our lovely families

What we learned

Said learned a lot about SwiftUI, as this is his first App to ship in SwiftUI RevenueCat integration is very simple and has a low barrier to entry. Very encouraging to use in future apps.
