Our combined passions for Maternal Health, Health system stregthening and Business innovation led to this collaboration.

What it does

Our model specifically targets cost and access issues that are responsible for a majority of unskilled births in Nigeria. Our insurance scheme is sustainable, profitable and has the potential to improve the attendance of women in Ante Natal Clinics and uptake of women in health facilities during deliveries. Our model has several effects; Direct effects Pooling of risk leading to reduction in catastrophic expenses, Reduction of health costs by small, affordable insurance premiums, Provision of perks such as ambulance transport as part of our insurance package Indirect effects Incentivizing Traditional Birth Attendants to get trained as part of a requirement to be accepted as health providers in our network

How we built it

Interdisciplinary brainstorming created the ideas and strategies that are integral to the success of our model

Challenges we ran into

Finding a way to make profit while keeping premiums low

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of finding ways to address the challenges that we encountered in the early models we created to address the problem of Maternal Mortality in Nigeria such as sustainability and scale up.

What we learned

We learned that working together creates a positive environment to finding new solutions to old problems.

What's next for Trinity Health

We intend to Implement this program in Nigeria, and include it in our plans to train Traditional Birth Attendants
