Inspiration
Anyone who has generated 3D models with AI knows the frustration: you write a prompt, wait for the mesh, and get unlucky — bad topology, weak texturing, or a shape that doesn't match what you imagined. Your only option is to switch to a different engine and start from scratch on another platform.
We kept asking the same question: why should we be locked into one engine when each has different strengths? That's why we built Trify3D.
What it does
Trify3D is a multi-engine AI 3D generator. The same text prompt or reference image is simultaneously sent to multiple leading 3D engines — Tripo3D, Meshy, Rodin — and the resulting meshes are displayed side by side for comparison, so you can pick the best one.
- Text to 3D: describe what you want in natural language, get a textured mesh
- Image to 3D: upload concept art, photos or sketches (JPG/PNG/WEBP), reconstruct into a full mesh from multiple views
- AI Texturing: generate complete PBR texture sets (albedo/normal/roughness/metallic, up to 4K) for any existing mesh
- Multi-engine comparison: the same input runs on multiple engines simultaneously, one account, one credit pool
- Online viewer & export: 10 render modes to check models in the browser; export GLB/glTF/OBJ/STL
How we built it
The core is an aggregation layer: a single account, a single credit pool, with requests fanned out to each engine's API, then unified rendering and comparison for the results. The viewer is based on Three.js, supporting 10 render modes (wireframe, normals, UV, and more), so quality issues can be spotted before export. All models come with full commercial rights, and exports can go straight into Unity, Unreal, Blender, or 3D printing slicers.
Challenges we ran into
Normalizing and fairly pricing credits across different engines' billing schemes was the biggest challenge; second was keeping the comparison experience consistent under the latency differences of each engine — most previews return within 1 minute, but users shouldn't have to wait for the slowest one.
What we learned
There are already 18,000+ creators using it, from game developers to 3D printing enthusiasts. The most common feedback is: "Before, I had to generate three or four times across different platforms; now one input gives me all the candidates." The value of comparison lies in turning a gamble into a choice.
