Inspiration
As a group of college freshmen, we're grasping at every opportunity to learn more about the workforce. That said, there are some things that you can only really learn from one-on-one guidance. With is in mind, we also thought about how to give back to the generations of professionals that came before us. Knowing that older generations often have trouble relating to younger people, we thought that having them interact through their shared careers would be a great way to improve workforce cohesion.
What it does
Trickle connects young professionals with more experienced mentors in their field. This gives the younger generation into their career path and the older generation a better way to understand their younger coworkers.
Trickle also shows its uses in nearby conferences to promote increased networking and the opportunity to meet mentors in person. Additionally, it holds a list of non-profits for users to join as a way to volunteer their skills.
How we built it
We built it using Framer. We wanted to focus on making the design simple enough not to overwhelm the older generations.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out when to meet proved to be difficult. We didn't fully take into account each other's schedules, which hindered the growth of our project. Also, we were hung up on how and when to implement AI into the project. Framer was quite finicky on the web browser, making it hard to work on.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're very proud of the idea. We think that the concept could be a much more personal way to increase one's knowledge in their career path.
What we learned
We should have picked a more intuitive design application or done more research into what application would have been better for us at our skill level.
What's next for Trickle
We hope to expand our idea in the future. While we don't yet know what application to take this idea to, we think we might have struck a bit of gold.
