Inspiration 🌟
I thought it would be cool to create a floating world in a bright environment, which felt missing in other worlds. I wanted to make a dynamic, visually striking experience where players could face a challenge in a unique, open space.
What it does 🎮
In this world, players must navigate floating blocks and reach the main temple where they are confronted by a massive skeleton knight. The twist? They must dodge fireballs coming from statues all around and use a magical sword to defend themselves.
How we built it 🔧
We built the world using the Meta Horizon Desktop Builder, utilizing its components like NPCs, Navigation, and Spawning systems. This allowed us to create an immersive environment with interactive elements and challenging gameplay.
Challenges we ran into ⚔️
This was my first time working on a project like this, so getting everything to work together smoothly was a learning experience. The main challenge was figuring out how to sync the environment, NPC movements, and the boss fight mechanics.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆
We’re really proud of how the boss fight came together, especially the fireball mechanics. The floating world looks visually stunning, and the challenge of navigating the blocks combined with battling the skeleton knight makes for a really fun experience.
What we learned 💡
We learned a lot about the power of navigation and NPC interactions in Meta Horizon Worlds, as well as how to effectively use Logic Blocks for combat mechanics. It also taught us a lot about balancing difficulty to keep the player engaged.
What's next for Trial of the Sky 🌤️
We plan to expand the world with more complex challenges and additional boss fights. We’re also considering adding new environments or special power-ups to make the experience even more dynamic!
Personal Note 🎯
This was my first time being exposed to Meta Horizon Worlds and game development as a whole, so I’m still learning, but now I’m dedicated to building. I want to make a unique story mode-style game on the platform, as I don’t see anything like that available here yet.
