Inspiration
CI/CD workflows grow organically until teams are burning thousands of runner minutes on redundant matrix legs, uncached dependencies, and flaky tests. PipelinePulse turns any GitHub Actions workflow YAML into an interactive DAG, queue simulator, and cost optimization bench.
What it does
- Hand-Written YAML Workflow Parser & Validator: Parses GitHub Actions workflow files in the browser and flags syntax or dependency errors with exact line numbers and recovery hints.
- Topological Wave Map & Critical Path: Renders jobs in topological waves with dependency edges, highlighting the critical path that governs total wall-clock turnaround.
- Median/P90 Duration & Runner Queue Simulator: Computes job medians and p90 durations from run history and simulates concurrency limits and runner queue wait times.
- Per-Job & Matrix Cost Model + Failure Clustering: Calculates monthly runner spend across Linux, Windows, and macOS rate tables, clusters failure logs by normalized signature to separate flaky tests from hard breaks, and prices five concrete workflow optimizations with explicit assumptions.
How we built it
Built in zero-dependency vanilla JavaScript (engine.js, render.js, app.js) with 98 automated unit and DOM smoke tests (node --test) verifying the YAML parser, topological sort, critical path math, cost projections, and failure clustering.
