Inspiration
When I was learning about healthcare in my school's STEAM to Careers program, I learned about triage, and I realized that it was quite a complex process, especially in such a serious situation. Thus, we had the idea of this app to help with this complexity and solve this problem.
What it does
This app explains each color of triage tag and provides a series of questions that guide a training paramedic through the steps of evaluating a patient for primary triage. Each question prompts the trainee to evaluate a certain aspect of the patient and proceeds to check another aspect or assign a tag.
How we built it
We used buttons and on events that were programed to send the user to the correct screen.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was making sure that each possible path in our triage quiz was correct. We ensured this by creating a flow chart to ensure each button led to the correct screen.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to simplify the complex problem of triage tag assignment into a simple app.
What we learned
We learned how similar on events are to conditionals and how complex situations can be represented with code.
What's next for Triage Assigner
A way we could improve it is researching more into different triage situations so that this app can handle more complex situations.
