Inspiration
There are so many amazing and unique traditions at Texas A&M that underclassmen find difficult to remember, so we wanted to create a fun and interactive way to teach them more about these traditions! We were heavily inspired by the Google Dinosaur game, as well!
What it does
We created a obstacle-avoidance game that incorporates A&M traditions in the form of trivia in order to score more points!
How we built it
We used HTML to build the main website, CSS to style the interface, Aseperite for all of the graphics and icons, and Javascript for the back-end programming, most of which done through VS Code and GitHub Desktop. We received a lot of guidance from the mentors and online tutorials.
Challenges we ran into
We were all new to web development and had to learn everything from scratch, running into a lot of layout and debugging issues, but we overcame them! We pulled an all-nighter so that we could fix all of the challenges that we faced and put our best foot forward.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of how much work we were able to accomplish in such a short amount of time and hope that we are able to help Aggies learn about all of the amazing traditions we have!
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate on coding projects using GitHub Desktop, a lot about front-end development, and what sleep deprivation does to the mind.
What's next for tREVia
We plan on adding a leaderboard tab, increasing the bank of trivia questions and obstacle icons, and possibly even adding a storyline to increase engagement!
