Inspiration

Hackathon builders often lose time on the wrong opportunity or discover blockers too late: residence restrictions, nationality rules, sanctions clauses, incompatible payout methods, missing demo assets, required public URLs, or terms that must be accepted by the human entrant. I wanted a practical MeDo-built tool that turns those scattered concerns into a clear readiness workflow before the final deadline.

What it does

Hackathon Submission Checklist Builder helps solo builders evaluate one hackathon opportunity at a time. It collects the hackathon URL, deadline, organizer, builder residence and nationality/citizenship, prize type, payout rails, required deliverables, rules notes, and build notes. From that intake, it produces a structured readiness dashboard showing what is ready, what needs review, and what is blocked.

The app groups checks into eligibility, payout compatibility, missing deliverables, and human-approval boundaries. It explicitly flags actions such as login, terms acceptance, wallet signatures, KYC/tax forms, and final submission as steps that require the human builder to approve them.

How we built it

The working application was built with MeDo from natural-language prompts. MeDo generated the application UI, structured intake flow, checklist pages, status dashboard, and iteration workflow. The app demonstrates how a no-code AI app builder can turn an ambiguous operational process into a usable productivity tool with clear data fields, status badges, and exportable submission copy.

The submitted working app is the public MeDo application. The GitHub repository is used as supporting planning and reference material for the workflow, not as the primary submitted app.

Key features

  • Hackathon intake form
  • Builder profile fields for residence, nationality/citizenship, and payout rails
  • Prize and deliverable tracking
  • Eligibility checklist
  • Payout compatibility checklist
  • Human approval boundary checklist
  • Submission asset generator
  • Final readiness dashboard
  • Seeded Build with MeDo sample record
  • Copy-ready Devpost text outputs

Challenges

The main design challenge was deciding where automation should stop. A checklist app can help gather requirements and draft submission text, but it should not pretend that account login, legal terms, payment details, wallet signatures, KYC, tax forms, or final submission are complete before the human entrant approves them. The app intentionally keeps those steps visible as human-approval boundaries.

Accomplishments

The app turns a messy, multi-tab hackathon review process into a single workflow. It helps builders see eligibility risk, payout risk, missing assets, and final-submit blockers early enough to act on them.

What we learned

MeDo is strongest when the desired app can be described as a structured workflow: collect fields, group checks, show status, and generate copy-ready outputs. This project made that pattern concrete for hackathon submission readiness.

What's next

Next steps would be adding more sample hackathon templates, exporting checklists as Markdown, and connecting public hackathon pages to automatically pre-fill deadlines, required deliverables, and payout notes while still keeping final approval under human control.
