Inspiration The idea for Trendy came from a common frustration—spending too much time trying to figure out what’s trending before even starting to design. Most tools only cover a single platform or require switching between apps. We envisioned an add-on that empowers creators by surfacing relevant trends right where they create—in Adobe Express.
What it does Trendy is a concept add-on for Adobe Express that showcases a unified, simplified interface where users can:
Browse trending topics by region, category, and platform
View AI-style mockups of visual and caption suggestions
Instantly launch Adobe Express with preselected templates for a trend
Use an “Educator Mode” to adapt trending topics for learning content
While it's currently a static prototype, Trendy demonstrates how creators could go from trend discovery to design seamlessly.
How we built it We built a mock version using:
React to simulate the user experience inside a web app
Adobe Express Add-on SDK for seamless integration
Sample trend data curated manually to demonstrate filtering and layout
AI-generated placeholder media and captions to showcase the envisioned AI integration
The focus was on building a realistic interface to test the core experience.
Challenges we ran into Simulating real-time data without APIs while keeping it believable
Designing an experience that felt native to Adobe Express but distinct in value
Balancing flexibility (for marketers, educators, creators) with simplicity
Making the concept clear without a working backend or dynamic data
Accomplishments that we're proud of Created a clean, intuitive interface that communicates the core vision
Successfully prototyped a full end-to-end mock flow from trend discovery to design
Built a compelling Educator Mode to expand Trendy's potential use cases
Received positive feedback on UX and use-case relevance
What we learned A well-executed mockup can communicate powerful ideas—even without real data
The importance of designing for speed, clarity, and creativity
How to prioritize core features that deliver immediate value to the user
That even in prototype form, Trendy fills a real gap in the creative workflow
What's next for Trendy Add real trend APIs (e.g., TikTok, Twitter, YouTube)
Integrate AI generation for visual assets and captions
Enable template previews and customization before launching Express
Expand Educator Mode with curriculum tagging and topic filters
Conduct user testing and iterate based on feedback
Trendy has strong potential to become an essential add-on for content creators and educators alike. The next phase is turning this vision into a functional, data-powered tool.
