Inspiration
Inspired from higher and lower game of google searches we wanted to create a fun and interactive way to engage with Reddit’s massive community base. The “Higher or Lower” format felt like the perfect way to turn subreddit stats into something competitive, quick, and addictive.
What it does
Trendspottr challenges players to guess which subreddit has more members. Two subreddits appear side by side, and players must decide if the next one is higher or lower in subscriber count. It’s fast, engaging, and surprisingly tricky!
How we built it
Frontend: React for the game flow and UI Backend: Node/Express fetching live subreddit stats via the Reddit API Game Logic: Dynamic comparisons, score tracking, and streaks Styling: Clean, minimal design with dark/light mode support
Challenges we ran into
Designing a UI that works well on both desktop and mobile Choosing Subreddits harder to guees so that player cant go above 15 streak easily
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a fully functional game in a short time Designed an intuitive user interface that makes playing effortless Learned and implemented Reddit API integration from scratch Created something fun that can engage Redditors instantly
