It's been hypothesized that economics doesn't consider the cost and benefits of nature well, that externalities are not calculated properly. The Amazon rain forest, for example, is a gigantic rain factory for South America. However, no one pays nature for providing its benefits which ultimately leads to deforestation and the loss of a resource many rely on. Actually deforestation leads to many disasters as well such as droughts. We analysed disaster data from Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) and visualized disasters with time.
