🏠 Trender - AI Furniture Expert

We wanted to reinvent the way people design their living spaces by making interior design as fun and interactive as swiping on your favorite app. We noticed how overwhelming furniture shopping and trend discovery can be, especially for students and young professionals. That's why we built Trender: to put the power of AI, real-world cultural trends, and a swipe-based UX in everyone's hands.

The idea came from observing how people struggle with furniture shopping — they either get overwhelmed by endless options or end up with pieces that don't match their style. We wanted to create something that felt as intuitive and enjoyable as dating apps, but for furniture discovery.


💡 What It Does

Trender analyzes a photo of your room, then uses AI to suggest trendy furniture upgrades matched to your style. You simply swipe right or left — just like Tinder — to pick what you love. Trender then connects you to stores nearby where you can buy those items.

The app also builds your personal taste profile and explains the reasoning behind each recommendation, so you can learn about your own style as you go.

🚧 Challenges We Ran Into

  • UI/UX Complexity
    Perfecting the swipe experience on web required fine-tuned drag physics and gesture handling to feel truly mobile-native.

  • Performance Optimization
    Processing large images and handling real-time taste updates securely without lag was technically demanding.
