Trend-vironment

HampHack 2016 Project

Premise

Trend-vironment is an environmental sustainability web-app where the user can choose a category from a list of the most relevant issues with the environment today, along with a start date and an end date. The app will query the New York Times API for articles written between the start and the end date, and analyze their sentiment using indico.io. This sentiment data is shown to the user using chart.js

Sustainability

In order to contribute to the overall sustainability of the environment, trend-vironment provides the user with the resources they need to both understand the issue at hand as well as find out what they can do to prevent it in the future. We also query the Eventful API to provide the user with links to events coming up related to their chosen topic, such as rallies or movie discussions.
