Inspiration
Trend Tracker is a conglomeration of our individual passions. We've seen apps that track each of these individually, but we wanted to combine them so that we can have a more holistic look at our lives. Does our mood affect our spending? Do we binge eat when we're stressed? We're hoping that our project can help someone answer these questions about their lives.
What it does
Trend Tracker tracks well-being related behaviors. We have the user input data about their sleep, mood, finances, eating, and stress level. We plot these data points over time and show the user trends between these areas.
How we built it
Trend Tracker is built in React, Bootstrap and d3 using style templates and an open-source line-graph component.
Challenges we ran into
We're all not the most familiar with React, so we had lots of trouble navigating through the files from the template we tried to use. We also took a bit of time to abstract our idea into what would be required for the front-end and back-end section. Due to a time constraint, we worked solely on the front-end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have some reusable code. Displaying charts and manipulating them based on user input.
What we learned
We picked up some efficient ways to reuse code, as well as the challenges of working with data visualization tools.
What's next for Trend Tracker
We can design a database structure for it and build out the backend. Then continue working on the front-end.
