Inspiration

We wanted to build an app that would help people keep track of their carbon footprint while also giving them something to care for which is directly impacted by their actions. Most people won't see the effects of climate change until it is far too late, we hoped that by giving everyone their own slice of nature in their pockets they might care just a little more about the ecological life around them.

What it should do

Tracks and calculates an individual's carbon output on a weekly basis Updates the Tree and other ecological elements based on the individual's carbon output

How we built it

We were planning on using React Native for our front end but due to technical issues, we could not create a stable environment.

Challenges we ran into

We were unable to get React Native to effectively build and run our application. The computer we were developing frontend on was not capable of running the program and the emulation at the same time. This is something we only found out during our process and spent the majority of the time trouble shooting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

At the very least we were proud of our mock design

What we learned

It is better to set up the development environment before the event if possible.

What's next for Tree Of Life
