Inspiration

The idea for Treaty Regards came from Halloween where we often accept gifts from strangers and the people we know but we forget to thank them. Keeping, the spirit of the best time of the year in mind, we were inspired to help bring the best in them, by allowing them to thank the people who gifted them treats on this thrilling day.

What it does

Keeping the spirit of goodness and gratitude in mind, the webapp Treat and Regards helps you to digitally save the treats you got on Halloween and then allows you to send thank you emails to those, from whom you received those treats, right from the same dashboard.

How we built it

We used SvelteKit along with tailwind on the frontend. We have used the Twilio Services to send login OTPs and thank-you emails. Further we have used Python(Flask) on the backend and the database we have opted for is SQLite. We have used Google Meet and Slack for inter-team communications.

Challenges we ran into

Most of the members didn't have experience with svelte so we had to learn and adapt to it quickly. Further, different time schedules of everyone had made it a bit difficult to keep the team in sync. We were unable to register for the GoDaddy challenge as the discount coupon was not working.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the web-app we have built. It costed us our sleep, but the result is more than satisfying.

What we learned

Some group members have learnt more about svelte and some have learnt about flask. But each one of us have learnt how to work in a team effectively, efficiently and build something that will be useful to someone.

What's next for Treaty Regards

We plan to create this web-app more responsive so that users can access it easily via mobile and web, as well as add features that allow individuals to show off their Halloween costumes and have others upvote them if they like, and Halloween photo boards for pets. We'll also include gamification and a chatroom where users can invite their friends to join in the celebration.
