Most online mapping tools and GPS or navigation apps can tell you how to get from of point A to B. But what if I'm interested in potential. In other words. . .IF I'M HERE, WHERE CAN I GO? And how long will it take?
Well, Urban Mapping has come up with an answer. An application demonstrating how far one can travel by foot or public transit over a fixed period of time, also known as an isochrone. That application is called TravelShed.
Using data directly from the MTA, as well as data from Open Street Maps, TravelShed gives you a view of what's possible, given a particular location and the amount of time you have available. Users can also construct travelsheds across multiple transit systems.
