Inspiration

During Winter break, we were trying to find the best things to do when we went on vacation, but we were only getting sponsored searches. A lot of the places that we saw online were unsafe so we made this website to help people have the best vacation.

What it does

Our website helps to find recommended and safe commodities in the vacation place of your choice. Not only does our website help to find the best accommodations, but it also shows you a map of the place where the user is going. It also provides a fully functional Language Translator that can help our user communicate seamlessly with the native people of a foreign country they might be visiting.

How we built it

We used Glitch and ChatGPT along with the help of Sid Arutla and Jaiveer Gill. We also used Google Maps to embed the world map onto our website.

Challenges we ran into: We were struggling to add more languages to our translator and our map wasn't working but after testing it multiple times and continuously running it through the debugger, we figured out our error and fixed it. We also had trouble with the language translator as the speech to text function wasn't working properly so we went ahead without backup plan which was to make a text-to-text language translator.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of our highly functional language translator that is very good quality. It can translate up to 35 languages and is very accurate. We are also proud of our chat bot which is tailored to our user's specific needs and can properly accommodate our user based on the availability and comfort.

What we learned

We learned how to make a high-quality language translator and how to assign a job/role to a chatbot to make it more functional for different purposes. We also learned how to embed a map onto html.

What's next for TravelPlanner.ai

We plan to add tools like a weather app and a flight tracker to improve the use of our website to the user. And also, to add more languages to our Language Translator so the user can communicate properly no matter where they are in the world.
