Project Story

About the Project

Our project, TravelPerk TeamBuilding App, was born out of the need to foster stronger team bonds in the corporate world. Leveraging technologies like React Native, Python, Django, and JavaScript, we organized a comprehensive dataset of employees' travel information, facilitating the identification of matching cases for team gatherings. We also built an AI algorithm of local search to generate groups of employees based on destinations and dates, allowing us to team up people matching these details.

Inspiration & Learnings

Inspired by the power of technology to bring people together, we learned valuable lessons about collaboration, data management, and user experience design. Building the project involved overcoming challenges such as data integration, algorithm design, and calendar synchronization.

How We Built It

Using React Native for the front end and Django for the back end, we developed an intuitive mobile application that allows employees to explore activities based on their interests, sign up for the ones they're interested in, and see which colleagues are enrolled in the same activities. Additionally, we implemented a feature to seamlessly add activities to users' personal calendars.

Challenges Faced

Throughout the development process, we faced challenges in handling and organizing large datasets efficiently, implementing complex algorithms to match employees with similar travel preferences, and ensuring a seamless user experience across different platforms. One significant challenge was developing and optimizing an AI algorithm of local search to generate employee groups based on destinations and dates.

Moreover, we learnt how to use Django and Native-React during the first night, as we had barely used them before. This was challenging at the beggining, but at the end we've leant some valuable skills and experience with both.
