Travelmate

Inspiration behind the idea**

The inspiration for this app was simply a love for travel, experiences and giving back to the world. Being a videographer travelling to so many different places through Princess Cruises opened up experiences for me to create human interest documentaries, adventure tours and see the world in a different way. I always thought a app as a companion to document the whole experience as a travel diary but also to plan the trip or adventure would be so handy and efficient. From scheduling tours, booking hotels or to find a great restaurant to enjoy. What could be easier than a one stop shop that gives you a full experience. Usually this would be an enormous undertaking but with the power of Ai and being able to vibe code this into being I am only limited by my imagination. Travel mate was birthed out of a spin off from my personal brand IG: Dreamate_Traveler. Because at times I feel what I get to do is all a dream.

What it does

Travelmate is a webapp which can also be downloaded as a mobile app to book and compare flights in real time, book trains, buses, cruises and hotels anywhere in the world. You can even get recommendations for places to visit or restaurants to try for dinner. Once you make a reservation via the app all the details are stored in Travelmate. You can do a group itinerary or single and plan a whole three weeks to the detail to make your travel experience less stressful. Think of Travelmate as your travel guide, documenting your experience as you go. If a flight is cancelled or delayed, don't worry the app alerts you to what other options you might have. You can plan your tours and full itinerary using Travelmate with the power of Ai Technology in real time updates.

How we built it

I developed a techstack of a MVP to enhance the capabilities of the product. I made a plan of thinking carefully through what the painpoints might be for travelers having to manage various different aspects of travel and thought it would be super efficient if this was all handled by one application. I generated a prompt using promptmetheus and came up with a vibe code to be used to generate a finished product using Bolt to give me Travelmate website. I also generated a mobile app version to be downloaded in the app stores

Probably more technically and being afraid to dream this big.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The overall look and feel and functionality of the app itself. Very good UI/UX. Easy to navigate clear and very attractive compared to our competitors like Wanderlog. Better name too. More relatable, I can see this connecting with our audience and taking off.
