Inspiration
Currently, we are facing a lot of burnout in the healthcare industry. Pharmacists at many hospitals are unfortunately needed to work overtime as there may not be many pharmacy technicians in the area. We wanted to address this issue by looking into the new trend of traveling healthcare workers, like traveling nurses and traveling pharmacy technicians. We wanted to give a better platform for these prospective workers to find and connect with hospitals to find the best jobs.
What it does
Our platform intends in a Tinder-like fashion to match prospective employees with job postings, so that they can see details about jobs and swipe right or left to add it to a potential job to apply for. Employers could then see the profiles of potential employees and find a right match.
How we built it
We used a server backend to keep track of logged in users to make sure they had a profile to save their jobs.
Challenges we ran into
Unfortunately the library we could've used for Tinder had some bugs with it, which took some time to figure out only to have to dumb down the solution to something more bare bones.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Authentication is always a tricky problem but Supabase made it really easy to achieve.
What we learned
Making a fully fledged app is hard and needs lots of preparation!
What's next for TravelMatch
Making a section for employers to be able to add their own job postings.
