Inspiration
The inspiration comes from a few of our team members that travel solo as a female and some have expressed their desire to travel solo one day but fear for their own safety when travelling alone. Many of them expressed that planning their first solo trip can also be difficult, but they like the idea of the freedom and flexibility that it brings if they were traveling solo.
What it does
Safescape is a mobile app that takes the pain out of travel research for solo female travelers, and recommend destinations specific to their travel preference and interests. The role of this platform is to curate a list of destinations, help solo female travellers feel safe by creating a safe space for them to connect with other travelers.
How we built it

Challenges we ran into
- Reshape the open-ended prompt into a solvable problem. As the prompt did not indicate specific constraints or conditions. This gave us an unlimited level of freedom to approach the problem.
- Implementation of an app from scratch to prototype within a time constraint
- Time zone differences with teammate made it a bit challenging.
- A full-fledged user research cannot be done with the time constraint.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Aligning business mission to user needs.
- With time zone difference with teammates, we were able to efficiently collaborate and complete the project.
What's next for Safescape
- In-depth User Interviews and user research to be conducted
- Usability Testing with users
- Explore onboarding flow after more research is done to increase adoption and conversion rate
- Explore reward incentives to increase engagement
- High-level, specific, actionable and measurable business goals to be established that will align with user needs/goals.
