The idea of a group trip is always filled with excitement and anticipation. However, the initial euphoria often clashes with a common obstacle: “where do we go?” The endless polls in group chats, the never-ending lists of potential destinations, and the differing opinions on budget and the type of adventure can turn planning into a real headache. In our own group of friends, we experienced this frustration firsthand. We wanted to escape the routine, create memories together, but the simple question of the destination became a maze of "likes" and "dislikes." It was at that moment, in the middle of a debate about whether to go to the beach or the mountains, with one eye on our wallets, that the spark ignited. “What if we could make choosing a destination as fun as the trip itself?” What if technology could help us find that magical meeting point where individual tastes aligned with a realistic budget? Thus, Travelero was born, our answer to the odyssey of group planning. We envisioned a platform where each member of the group could express their travel desires and preferences in an intuitive and personal way. The key to unlocking the ideal destination lay in truly understanding what each person was looking for. To make this happen, we used the smarts of Gemini AI. It helped us ask the right questions to find out what kind of trips everyone liked, from the scenery they dreamed of to the fun things they wanted to do. At the same time, staying within budget was super important, so we added the Skyscanner API. This tool helped us find good deals on flights and prices Our goal was simple yet ambitious: to take the individual answers, combine them with the budget set by the group, and, as if by magic, present a range of destinations that had the potential to satisfy everyone. During the Hackathon, we faced the challenge of integrating these two powerful APIs and building a web interface that was attractive and easy to use for our target audience: those groups of friends eager to create unforgettable memories together. For some of us, this meant diving into the depths of TypeScript and JavaScript for the first time, a challenge we embraced with enthusiasm and that taught us the value of collaboration and rapid learning. Seeing our idea begin to take shape, how the AI was able to "understand" preferences, and how the Skyscanner API offered us real options was incredibly rewarding. We overcame obstacles by working as a team, dividing tasks, and supporting each other every step of the way. Travelero is not just a tool for choosing a destination; it's an invitation to dream together, to discover new places, and to strengthen the bonds of friendship even before the trip begins. It's the solution to transform the frustration of planning into the shared excitement of an imminent adventure. We believe that with Travelero the question "where shall we go on vacation?" will cease to be a headache and instead become the exciting first step of an unforgettable experience.
