Inspiration

Based on our own experiences when travel planning, we found the task of creating the perfect itinerary challenging; from finding the best accommodation for our budget to making sure we planned to see all the best places our destination would offer, the sheer amount of research required often appeared insurmountable. We wanted to create a tool we would use ourselves—a sophisticated solution set to revolutionize the way travelers navigate their adventures.

What it does

Let the AI work its magic and craft your perfect itinerary! TravelBuddy is a website that utilizes the power of artificial intelligence to build an itinerary that is uniquely tailored to you. Simply input your destination and travel dates, and our AI algorithm will curate a personalized itinerary for you, so you no longer have to worry about your next vacation!

How we built it

TravelBuddy was built using a combination of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React) to ensure a smooth and interactive user experience. This web application also utilizes the OpenAI API to generate a detailed itinerary for the user.

Challenges we ran into

Due to the differing size of the results produced by the AI, formatting the overall structure of the web application presented a considerable challenge during development. Not only does the app require versatility in the formatting, but we also wanted to allow the user to save a PDF of their chat history for future reference.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a platform that simplifies travel planning, offering users the ability to quickly craft a personalized experience. Our successful integration of artificial intelligence and the development of a responsive design showcases our commitment to utilizing modern technologies to deliver a product that not only makes travel planning efficient but also enjoyable.

What we learned

Throughout the development of TravelBuddy, as the majority of the team were not familiar with React and the use of AI, we gained valuable insights into the application and the seamless integration of React into our development. This learning experience has not only expanded our knowledge of using modern technologies but also heightened our understanding of the flexibility that React and AI bring to the forefront of modern development.

What's next for TravelBuddy

Looking to the future, we plan to expand TravelBuddy's features to offer even more personalized and interactive experiences for users. We aim to further optimize our algorithm to craft the perfect itinerary for your next vacation and introduce a community review system to enhance interaction among users.
