Inspiration
We have taken inspiration from the statement on Vistara’s website. Our attempt is to enhance the flying experience of a Vistara passenger and contribute to the recall value of the airline.
What it does
Our app allows the passenger to sit and watch their trip pass through and in addition it provides interesting information titbits. At any given point of time, the passenger can take a look at the Points of Interests (POI) in the vicinity of the area the plane is flying over , in addition to events and POIs at the destination.
Additionally we have built in personalized ad monetization
How we built it
The frontend was built on Java for Android.
The backend used Java , tomcat, mysql , aws s3 and rds
Challenges we ran into
We ran into issues with the multiple database connections, one of them in a loop. This portion of the code had to be reengineered.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of using actual data from the vistara Delhi to Bengaluru flight via flight radar. For the demo ofcourse, it had to be speeded up.
What we learned
Lots of learnings. There will need to be a semi post mortem once we get some sleep.
What's next for Travelator - Eaglet South
We would like to spend some time on it to finetune it and make the execution a bit more smoother. We will additionally pursue tie ups with content providers for more relevant and accurate content.
