Inspiration

Tourism is one of the contributors to a country's income. The Covid 19 pandemic brought a bad storm to all tourism in the world. Everyone was confined to their homes and unable to travel anywhere. The biggest decline in tourism was experienced in Asia by 27% from 2019 amounting to 225.9 billion USD to 164.7 billion USD in 2020. After the pandemic ended the world of tourism slowly began to rise from the storm. The World Tourism Organization or UNWTO predicts that the tourism sector will recover after the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on data compiled by UNWTO, the recovery of the tourism sector is largest in the European region with the number of tourist visits almost approaching the pre-pandemic figure, which is 74 percent. But you know what? With the pandemic, people who used to be active outside, now tend to be active at home and busy with social media. Many of them don't start going out and traveling because they haven't done it for a long time and are confused about where to start again from scratch such as making travel plans, budgets and preparing all other information that makes vacation activities enjoyable. Travel Tour Assistant here came from the realization of the need for assistance in planning an efficient and enjoyable trip. Through personal experience and observation of the challenges faced by travelers in planning their trips, we wanted to create a solution that blends artificial intelligence with ease of use to provide a more seamless and satisfying travel experience according to the user's needs and desires.

What it does

Travel Tour Assistant is an artificial intelligence system that assists users in planning travel trips efficiently. Users can input their preferences, such as desired destination, number of people, budget, and trip duration through a user-friendly interface. Based on the information provided, the system will provide recommended tourist attractions, cost estimates, activity recommendations, and photography tips to create an unforgettable vacation experience.

How we built it

We built Travel Tour Assistant with partyrock.aws by brainstorming the basic problems that we actually experienced. So before solving the problems of many people we discuss and conceptualize the AI that will be made at least solve our problems. If the AI we create solves our problem, of course it will be very likely to solve the problems of friends out there who have the same problem as us. We also develop an intuitive and responsive user interface to ensure an optimal user experience. We designed the interface to be as simple and easy to understand as possible and included instructions for filling it out in case anyone feels confused in using this AI.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced was when we had already written down the idea but when we started to ask for specific information such as a photo recommendation request for 4 people but 3 people were genrated with the scenery at the tourist spot. Therefore, we experienced obstacles so that the output matches the number of people traveling. However, we have solved the problem by adding the number of people variable to the ai image generator description.

Achievements we are proud of

We are proud to be able to produce a system that can really help us solve our problems. We hope that this ai can help thousands of users to plan their travel more efficiently and enjoyably. We are also proud of the Travel Tour Assistant's ability to recommend tourist attractions, activities that can be done by users, budget, recommendations for nearby good places to eat, even up to photo recommendations for users to maximize tourist documentation. At least with this photo recommendation feature, people will no longer be confused in posing when traveling.

What we learned

During the development process of Travel Tour Assistant, we learned about the complexity of planning a tour and how technology can maximize tourism potential in an area. We really got a new picture of the opportunity to utilize this technology in our area to help people travel and increase tourism by making information accessible to the surrounding community with this ai platform that is very accessible to others. Not only for the surrounding community in our area, we also hope that this will be of wider benefit to open access to cross-country tourism information which is very likely to open up because of this ai.

What's next for Travel Tour Assistant

We have tried this application with our friends. Especially now that my area is in college vacation season and many of my friends are confused about where to vacation and what budget is needed. So this application helps my friends in planning their college vacation to travel outside the city. For the future, we plan to conduct further research related to the results provided by ai and the ease of using it for us to continue to develop so that it is easy to use and get results that are more relevant to what is inputted by the user.
