Inspiration
I always was amazed by how easy it was to build apps using stepzen. I learn about graphql a month ago. So I decided to participate a hackathon related to graphql. So I decided to participate this hackathon. It give a opportunity for me to learn about stepzen as well.
I love travelling. It inspire me to build a app for the travel community. Our projects focus on building web applications for travel community, to build a community for travelers, travel enthusiasts and show the beauty of the world. Basically site interprets the travelling destination. Any community member can create travel destination they visited with some photographs. So other community members can get some idea about next travel destination also share the experience with others.
What it does
This app was build for the travelers community. Any one can join the platform as a traveler. They can follow and unfollow other travelers. They can view each other profiles. Any traveler can create a post related to travelling locations and share those on the platform. Others can view those travel details.
In that way community travelers can share their experience. Any traveler can comment on the trip post.
Other than that introducing next step to the project add one page for the travel guides. It shows the data of guides in different places. For now guide data entering process done by admin. Only data view is available for now.
How we built it
Use react framework and stepzen for developemnt.
Challenges we ran into
It was a challenge making it user-friendly and easy to update and flexible for future needs. Another challenge is design of the ui/ux. I have a limited skill set in the designing the application. I think I get a chance for improv my ui/ui.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing the application in less than a month. It's prove that Stepzen increase the development speed, a lot. I'm proud that I get a chance to learn new things through this hackathon.
What we learned
This hackathon gave me the opportunity to improve my react knowledge along with graphql. Get opportunity to learn stepzen. It is pretty much easy to work along with stepzen as backend.
What's next for Travel Mate
- Implement guides profile handle. Now it is maintain by our team.
- Introduce services related to travelling. As example hotels, supermakets, banks, fuel pumps and etc near travel destinations.
