💡 Inspiration

Saving memories and sharing it with family and friends has always been a challenge for young adults and working parents. Travel-in-colours solves both these problems by allowing users to highlight countries they visited, where they can upload pictures, videos and more to be shared with the rest of the world!

⚙️ What it does

  • Highlights Countries you visited
  • Save Pictures, Videos, and more for that specific country and share with Family/Friends
  • Earn achievement badges depending on how much countries you have visited
  • Showcases popular tours based on consumer reviews
  • Allows you to post blogs based on your experience with Travel-in-Colours.

🛠 How we built it

  • Created using Visual Studio Code
  • Developed the website using HTML, CSS, and JS
  • GitHub to store code
  • Vercel to deploy website
  • Used domain.com and GoDaddy from domain

💣Challenges we ran into

  • Formatting with HTML and CSS took a big chunk of our time
  • Bit of more than we can chew (Wanted a lot more features then what we could complete in the assigned time)
  • Time zone differences was a challenge we ran into very early as it made it hard to communicate and get work done together
  • Deploying the website with Vercel had a major learning curve behind it
  • Effectively using domain.com and GoDaddy had a major learning curve behind it

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Completing a website with various features
  • Working efficiently though we were both on two completely different time zones.
  • Being able to deploy a website using Vercel
  • Understanding the use of Domain.com and GoDaddy

📚What we learned

  • Teamwork/Communication is essential for any group project
  • How to make an actual functioning website using GitHub, Domain.com/GoDaddy, and Vercel (DNS, domain name, etc)
  • Vastly improved our time management and decision making skills

⏭️ What's next for Travel-in-colours

  • Creating the WebApp for the interactive map using React and JS
  • Developing a database to store Users information in designated accounts.
