Inspiration
Our friends and us always want to explore, but we can never agree on where to go! Recently, we have been trying to plan a trip, but struggling to land on one destination. While brainstorming ideas, we were reminded of all the trouble we had deciding on travel and decided to combine both hacking and hard decision-making.
What it does
The user will be prompted with a series of questions, each narrowing down their ideal destination.
How we built it
We used HTML to build the website and Javascript to store the data and calculate the user's preferences. One of us tackled the HTML while the other focused on the Javascript portion.
Challenges we ran into
Our quiz submission button would not work for a long time, and while we debugged, we found other underlying issues. We had to fix many of the querySelect code in the Javascript and as we are both new to web programming, we chose to ask a mentor for help. It was the right decision, and their hints helped us reach what is now our final product.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We used HTML, which we are both new to, and although one of us has used Typescript/Javascript, this was the first time using it for a website which was a very different experience. We are both proud of our final result because of the dedication and time we poured into it.
What we learned
We learned how to code a website and debug it in the browser, along with lots of new syntax and HTML strategies.
What's next for Travel Guider
We planned but ran out of time to add a feature where the user can input location and then choose the distance they would like to travel as an extra filter. We would have used coordinates to do so.
