Travel Genie was inspired by the overwhelming process of trip planning, especially for students with limited time and tight budgets. We saw the need for a solution that could simplify the travel planning experience, providing students with cost-effective and personalized travel options quickly.

What it does

Travel Genie is an AI-powered trip planner that generates complete, budget-optimized travel plans in under 10 seconds. It compares bus, train, and flight options, recommends affordable accommodations, suggests activities based on budget, and creates personalized packing lists—all tailored to students' needs.

How we built it

Travel Genie is built using Next.js for fast rendering and mobile responsiveness, GPT for generating itineraries, and Tailwind CSS for a sleek, user-friendly design. We integrated live price comparisons for buses, trains, and flights using real-time data and created a shareable link feature for collaborative planning.

Challenges We Ran Into

API Integration: Ensuring seamless communication between our app and the Gemini API for real-time itinerary generation. Data Accuracy: Managing and displaying accurate, up-to-date price data for transportation and accommodation options. User Experience: Creating an intuitive interface that appeals to students while providing all necessary information in a user-friendly way.
