Inspiration

The IRS wants you to know about travel while serving a charity. Apple Pay for Donations is available to be integrated in mobile and web apps. Courts consider the strength of the taxpayer’s affiliation with the 501(c)(3) organization, the organization’s ability to initiate or request services from the taxpayer, the organization’s supervision over the taxpayer’s work, and the taxpayer’s accountability to the organization. For this presentation, WHOmentors.com, Inc. is initiating the volunteer travel opportunity. The user can select which date she/he wants to volunteer and travel for charity with a simple touch, and pay with a passcode or thumbprint.

What it does

Identifies upcoming volunteer travel opportunities, away from home, overnight, air fares, and uses Apple Pay to advance personal funds to pay for the package.

How I built it

iOS swift, XCode 9, REST APIs

Challenges I ran into

missed flight, took 3 separate plans to arrive at 2AM. Apple Pay for donations requires advance approval for 501(c)(3) to be approved.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

App works.

What I learned is Apple Pay is not as easy as it sounds. Sabre APIs are quite powerful.

What's next for Travel For Charity, update with options for volunteer to input specific travel dates and/or budget amounts.
