Inspiration

My trip to McLeod Ganj started as a simple trek from Delhi for fun and adventure. But once I arrived, I discovered so much more—local culture, food, music, and vibrant parties. As time passed, the budget got tight, plans became messy, and stress increased. During the trek, network issues ruined the vibe—Spotify offline playlists felt boring, no regional music, and at cultural gatherings I couldn’t relate to the songs. That’s when the idea struck: why not build a Travel Buddy that handles all of this?

What it does

Travel Buddy is an all-in-one platform that plans your time, budget, and experiences—even when you don’t know the place well. Users can explore and choose from categories like:

-> Food & Cafes

-> Tourist Spots & Temples

-> Nightlife & Local Experiences

Once selected, the trip is automatically planned. To enhance the vibe, an AI assistant talks to you, explains the place, solo or group travelers anyone can, and even app curates music that matches the region and mood—online or offline. Everything is planned so you can just focus on enjoying the journey.

How we built it

We built Travel Buddy using Google Studio. The project involved multiple components, making it slightly complex, but the process was exciting and fun. Curiosity and personal need drove the project—and building something for myself made it even more enjoyable.

Challenges we ran into

AI isn’t perfect. Getting accurate and meaningful outputs required a lot of experimentation. We tested different AI models and tools, fine-tuned prompts, and iterated multiple times. It took effort, but eventually everything came together.

What we learned

AI is powerful, but the real magic lies in how you use it. If you can imagine something, you can build it. Planning early reduces effort later—and most importantly, enjoying the process makes the outcome even better.
