Inspiration

I got the inspiration for the idea from my own college life. When I and my friends wanted to go on a trip, we faced so many challenges such as transportation, stay, safety, and cost. Most of our families are conservative, they usually didn't want us to go on a trip, and hence they never helped us with the planning. We used to spend a month at least to finalize everything that would fit our budget. Once, the trip is done we had to calculate the cost for each person as during the trip one person would have paid for the food and the other would have paid for the drinks, and one more on something else, which results in another hectic calculating night. Usually, I and my other friend are in charge of planning and calculation and we used to always feel if there was a tool that would help us do all these on one platform. We wanted to have the excitement of planning the trip as well as some assistance with respect to transport, stay, food, and the calculation. Thus, the idea of "Travel Buddy" arose.

What it does

Travel Buddy is the platform that allows users to prepare a trip plan by helping with transport stay, food, and the rest of the itinerary. The friends can sign up to the platform, form a group, discuss the trip, search for a stay along with transport facility on the same platform, chat with them personally or add them to the group, book them, also there will be a plugin where user can add individual expenses during the course of the trip in the group with the option of dividing the expense with only a selected few and also prepare a final expense report which would help everyone to know the final cost of the trip. Also, the driver's number can be shared with parents who could contact them and know if the kids are safe or not.

How we are planning to build it

The product is not built yet but here are the different phases in which we are planning to build the product,

Phase 1

  1. Approach existing resorts, hotels, or a popular resort/hotel chain, travel agencies who would partner up with us.
  2. Set up a plan and have a dedicated transport facility for each of the resorts/hotels as we will be providing stay with travel combined in our platform. Here, the cost will include only pick up and drop and does not include the roaming charges in the destination. That will cost extra based on the itinerary and extra kilometers/miles.
  3. Have the platform ready with sign-up/sign-in, search, and sorting options based on cost features. Provide a chatting facility with transport/resort/hotel to discuss the itinerary and the cost.

Phase2

  1. Add a feature to form a chat group with friends to discuss the plan.
  2. Add the "Expense report" feature to each group and help with the calculations during the course of the trip.
  3. Collaborate with more resorts/hotels and transport agencies and have predefined itineraries to select from.

What's is the future for Travel Buddy

Well, launching its own resort chain with a dedicated transport facility from all over the country is the final goal of the product.
