Inspiration
When doing a community service project to help the environment, it is often times awkward to do it alone. So why not do it with countless other people?
What it does
Trashure Cove allows users to organize community events to help save the environment. Users can buy and sell used items as well as schedule meetups between clients! The website provides authentication by email and password to ensure the identity of users.
How we built it
It was built using React for frontend, Flask for backend, and MySQL for database.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into merge errors often and dependency issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of implementing the backend with the frontend. It was our first time creating a JS app that uses Python for the backend. It took a while, but we were able to get the connection up and running. We are also proud to have made something that helps the community and can make the world a better place!
What we learned
We learned that it was a great deal of fun building products with new people with different skills especially when it helps solving major world issues!
What's next for Trashure Cove
We plan to improve our frontend even more and add more security features to insure the safety of our users. We also plan on implementing leaderboard as every time a person volunteers for a task, he/she is awarded a certain amount of points. This is a way to make helping the world a bit more competitive! We also want to encourage more students to help the environment by giving them certificates showing volunteer work which would help them in their college applications!
