Trashtag – Project Explanation
Describe the project “Trashtag,” a community-driven web platform designed to make cities cleaner by encouraging people to report, track, and clean trash. Our inspiration came from seeing dirty streets, neglected corners, and public spaces where people don’t bother cleaning up because they feel it’s not their responsibility. We wanted to change that mindset.
Trashtag transforms waste reporting into a rewarding, gamified experience. Users can:
Upload photos or documents of a trash-filled area
Pin the location on a map
Describe the issue
Take action by cleaning it
Earn points, badges, and rewards for their contribution
The goal is to create a cleaner environment by motivating individuals through community participation and reward-based engagement. The platform connects volunteers, students, NGOs, and local authorities to work together for a cleaner city. The website features sliding images, awareness blocks, user profiles, achievements, upload modules, and a trash-reporting system with location tagging.
Explain how Trashtag helps solve real-life problems, why it matters, how the reward system motivates people, and how it empowers society—especially youth—to take small steps that create big environmental impact.
