Trashero

Inspiration

After personally seeing for ourselves how people were misinformed about what to recycle and what not to, we decided to come up with a way to gamify the education process.

What it does

A fun and educational game that brings you on an adventure with Trashero while teaching you the Dos and Don’ts of waste disposal.

How we built it

Using Visual Studio Live Share, we had fun brainstorming and and building a Telegram Bot. We took inspiration from various source codes and poured over the Telegram Bot API. Through many rounds of iteration, we coded, debugged and repeated until we arrived at the final version of Trashero_bot.

Challenges we ran into

With our limited Python knowledge and experience dealing with Telegram bots, we were unfamiliar with the Telegram Bot API and ran into a lot of bugs and errors throughout the process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Trashero! We became more familiar with the Telegram Bot API with Python, which could prove useful in future too.

What we learned

We learned a lot, from hard to soft skills, such as coding a Telegram bot with Python, recycling insights and how to divide and conquer for the most effective use of time.

What's next for Trashero

If more time was available, we would like to touch it up even further, and include other elements such as HTML5 games to further gamify and enhance the experience of our users to learn more about waste management!
