Inspiration
Our inspiration came from the amount of waste we produce globally.
What it does
Our websites asks the user for their location and for two images. You are supposed to pick up trash in between the two images in order to receive points. We would've trained AI to receive the two photos as inputs and try to calculate how much trash was picked up. The user will then receive points based on their location and the amount of trash they picked up.
How we built it
We used Word Press as our frame work and Host Gartor to create the sub domain.
Challenges we ran into
We first tried to get the AI to properly work but after many long hours, we realized that it was too advanced for us to understand. We switched through many apps and websites in order to create functioning AI, then just an app that would run, and then we settled on just creating a website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments we were proud of were creating the website. This was our first time ever attempting something like this so we were very excited to see it work.
What we learned
We learned that it is very difficult to code AI, more specifically, it's difficult to teach an AI to read in a data set to train it to recognize waste from pictures. We also learned to better communicate and work with others,
What's next for Trash Tracker
We plan to work on it a little more in order to get it running just how we anticipated.
