Trash Pickup Game

A game that encourages people to pick up trash. The player selects a team and submits a picture of them picking up trash. The team then scores a point, and the team with the most points wins.

Inspiration

We were inspired by augmented reality games like Pokemon Go where you're encouraged to go out and interact with the world.

What it does

In the website, you're able to select a team, gain points, and check the leaderboard for which team is placed highest

How we built it

The website was built using slack

Challenges we ran into

As most of our group is new to web development, it was daunting for us to work on a project we all thought we wouldn't be able to do.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Even though our project isn't exactly what we envisioned at the start, I'm glad we were able to put in a couple key implementations we were looking for.

What we learned

It was scary to start, but once we got moving and chipped away at the project slowly, we could get it done.

What's next for Trash Pickup Game

Our starting vision was that different regions or states would have their own overall score as opposed to an overall score for everybody. We could get smaller leaderboards, while having the team with the most states winning. As well, we'd want to add in some image handling where either a person checks the image or some automated system is able to determine whether the image is right. It would also be cool to add in a tracker that could show where trash needs to get picked up.
