Our project aims to address the growing concern of waste management in urban areas by developing a sophisticated tool that utilizes computer vision technology to monitor trash in the city. By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence and real-time data analysis, our tool will detect and track trash across various locations, enabling us to update the city map with the precise locations of trash in real-time. This innovative solution will provide valuable insights for efficient waste management, enabling timely interventions and fostering a cleaner, healthier environment for residents.
Objectives:
Trash Detection: Implement a computer vision-based trash detection system capable of identifying and classifying different types of waste, such as plastic, paper, and organic materials, with a high degree of accuracy.
Real-time Monitoring: Develop a robust mechanism for continuously monitoring the city using a network of cameras or other suitable sensors. The trash detection system will analyze the incoming data in real-time, identifying and locating trash objects within the captured images or video streams.
Geolocation Mapping: Integrate the trash detection system with a city map, allowing the precise location of detected trash to be updated in real-time. This feature will provide a visual representation of the trash distribution across different areas, enabling authorities to prioritize cleanup efforts effectively.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Implement a backend system to process and analyze the collected data. Generate meaningful insights, such as trash density heatmaps, hotspot identification, and historical trends, which will help in formulating effective waste management strategies.
User-Friendly Interface: Develop an intuitive and user-friendly interface for both administrators and city residents. The interface will allow authorized personnel to access real-time trash information, generate reports, and manage cleanup operations efficiently. Additionally, residents can utilize the interface to report trash sightings, enhancing community engagement in maintaining cleanliness.
Collaboration and Notifications: Enable collaboration between municipal authorities, waste management agencies, and community stakeholders by providing a platform for communication and task allocation. The system will send notifications and alerts to relevant parties based on identified trash hotspots or specific cleanup requests.
Scalability and Expansion: Design the solution to be scalable and adaptable to accommodate a growing number of monitoring locations. Future expansion may involve incorporating additional sensors, leveraging mobile applications for citizen reporting, or integrating with existing waste management infrastructure.
