Inspiration
Over the past few years, climate change and increase in global warming has been such a pressing issue. One thing that affects us personally in our day-to-day lives is our consumption and subsequent trash amount. We wanted to bring awareness about the buildup of trash in the ocean, because we strongly believe that this issue isn't well-known and isn't talked about nearly enough.
What it does
We wanted to inform our audience of the issue facing our oceans today, which through a chain process also affects humanity. How we deal with our waste and trash is within our control, and by creating this project, we hope to help people become more aware of their impact on the environment and on our oceans, as well as the wildlife.
How we built it
We used HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We had a bit of a challenge with time. We feel like we had so many ideas, but it was hard to do, given that most of our team were beginners and we wanted to add more things, like a map and chat function.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're glad that we were able to put in time and research into a project that we're proud of. We're proud of how it turned out.
What we learned
In addition to learning more about HTML and coding in general, we also learned more about the garbage patches in the ocean. We hope that our project inspires change.
What's next for Trash Informant
We want to work on adding more of the features that we were thinking about, including a map and a chat window to facilitate conversation about this pressing topic.
