Inspiration

The inspiration for this project simply comes from the world that we live in. With every passing day, we are faced with new environmental issues that are threatening the sole existence of the world that we live in. One such issue is the contamination of oceans and how it is affecting the population of sea turtles adversely. By making a game about a turtle trying to save its habitat, we aim at spreading awareness about the same.

What it does

The game 'Trash Dash' is a single-player game where the player plays as a sea turtle named Torrent The Turtle. The objective of the player is to collect all the trash that is thrown into the ocean and ensure that too much trash is not accumulated. Using left and right arrows the player can move and collect the trash. Once the player reaches the score of 50, the turtle is attacked by arrows, and the player then needs to collect the trash while dodging the arrows. Once the player reaches the score of 100, he/she wins the game.

How we built it

We started the process of building the game by deciding on the theme on which our game would be based. The work was then divided among the team members. The artist started working on the art of the game and the assets. The programmers worked on the code and implementation. Once the assets and code were compiled together, the process of testing and debugging took place. Finally, the game was deployed.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge while designing this game was to learn a whole new language and figure out how to work with Flutter. It seemed very difficult to overcome this challenge, but together as a team, we managed to do it and design this amazing game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our accomplishment is that we learned how to work with Flutter and code in Dart, and we could successfully implement our learning into developing this game that imparts the message of environmental sustainability.

What we learned

We learnt how to integrate social message with a fun game that would be embedded in the minds of the masses.

What's next for Trash Dash

We hope to make it a fully functional and enjoyable game with multiple levels that subsequently increase the difficulty add better functioanlities and dynamics to the game.
